John J. Craven Music seeks to uphold a brand that represents high-quality composition, whether it is client-based, or composed for a listener's reflection or enjoyment. With this in mind, music and nature feature prominently in this music as well as Christian vocal influences. As more music is composed and recorded, this website will continue to expand.
John Craven has worked as a composer and pianist since 2000. He has composed music for short films, community ensembles, as well as co-produced contemporary classical recitals with leading composers. His background is also impressive and exceptional in areas of music accompanying, such as dance and vocal.

About the Owner
In composition, John J. Craven received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Purchase College in 1997 and a Master of Music at the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in 2011.
Since 2000, he has performed in and co-produced various concerts and shows, from concert and cabaret to music theater and new music. He has successfully partnered with composers, performers, and conductors.
From 2005 to 2006, he participated in the New York-based Lehman Engel BMI Music Theatre Workshop as a composer. There he collaborated with other lyricists, including Dramatist Guild Playwright Granville W. Burgess, whom he worked with as a music arranger and director on his musical comedy “A Country Carol”.
He worked again on “A Country Carol” from 2015, in a staged reading at Theater Artists Workshop in Connecticut until 2016. Since 2018, he has returned to music theater writing and continues to seek opportunities for collaboration with lyricists and librettists.
“As a composer, most recently I have composed music theater songs as well as concert works. The composition "You are Light" for voice and piano, as well as "In the Darkness, You are Light" for soprano, small orchestra and organ were composed in 2019. The composition "Rondo for Piano and Orchestra" first composed in 2010, was rewritten in 2019.”

Formed in 2019, John J. Craven Music intends to evoke a brand that represents top-quality composition. I also am interested in writing songs and storytelling appropriate for music theater, opera, and performance art as well as composing for ensembles in concert venues.
